The SPH Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Team (EDIT) invites all Students, Faculty and Staff to join us for an open dialogue around these topics, to help build an open space within the SPH community to bring questions and concerns.
For this session we will watch a brief talk on Ted.com by Yassmin Abdel-Magied, “What Does My Headscarf Mean to You?,” during the first fifteen minutes, and spend the rest of the hour discussing this topic.
Unconscious bias is a prevalent factor driving culture, causing us all to make assumptions based on our own upbringings and influences. Such implicit prejudice affects everything, and it’s time for us to be more thoughtful, smarter, better. In this funny, honest talk, Yassmin Abdel-Magied uses a surprising way to challenge us all to look beyond our initial perceptions.
Feel free to bring your lunch! Microwave and beverages are available.
