Special EpiCH Seminar
Weight Stigma, Stress, and Eating Behavior
Presented by Janet Tomiyama, PhD

Department of Psychology, University of California – Los Angeles
Director, Dieting, Stress, and Health (DiSH) Laboratory
Weight stigma is rampant in our society. Although many assume that weight stigma will motivate people to lose weight, this talk will provide evidence that the opposite is true. Through biobehavioral stress pathways and increased eating behavior, data will be presented indicating that weight stigma actually puts children, adolescents, and adults at risk for weight gain, not weight loss.
All faculty, staff, and students welcome!
