SUMMARY:NIH Public Access Policy Changes Information Session
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nIn response to a 2022 White House Office of Science and Technology Policy memorandum\, all U.S. federal funding agencies must update their public access policies by December 31\, 2025. These changes will require immediate public access to publications and data resulting from federally funded research. \nThe National Institutes of Health (NIH) recently announced that its updated public access policy will take effect July 1\, 2025—a shift that has drawn significant attention from the research community due to the short notice. \nJoin Nancy Sims and Allison Langham-Putrow from the University of Minnesota Libraries for a timely and informative session about what these changes mean for researchers. They will present information on the new NIH public access policy and the latest updates surrounding it and will discuss the UMN Open Access Policy and describe the options authors have to comply with NIH and other upcoming public access policies.
