Meghan-RosenkranzMeghan Rosenkranz furthered her interest in survey research by working as the Metro SHAPE 2014 Intern.

Her work involved the development, evaluation, and analysis of a large scale health survey of the Minneapolis Metro area. She was initially interested in this opportunity because she wanted to develop her analysis skills but has grown to love the field of program evaluation and data communication.

Rosenkranz enjoyed seeing how the proper collection and analysis of data is integral to any public health goal. Through this field experience, she saw how data directed programs and focused public health initiatives.

This experience has allowed Rosenkranz to obtain direct experience with statistical software and survey programs to manage and analyze large amounts of data. She also worked on smaller projects within the department that focused on anti-smoking policies and health care for persons with mental health problems .

Overall, Meghan notes, “This was a great opportunity to focus on the details of a large scale project and be involved in big picture decisions.”
