Allison Fischbach

I especially enjoyed one of my elective credit courses, called Global Health in a Local Context, taught by Dr. Michael Westerhaus. The course brought together students across all healthcare disciplines to learn about health disparities in communities across the Twin Cities.

In teaching the course in an experiential learning setting, students like myself were able to learn from members in the community about health and health disparities from their point of view, forging new relationships and new understandings about the healthcare system. The conversations and connections made were deeply meaningful, with life lessons I will take with me into my career and beyond.
